If you have come to Mallorca on this December for a city break, or reside on the island, and are looking for some excursions or activities to do in Mallorca, we have prepared this article for you.
Unfortunately in December it is low season in Mallorca, so there are few excursion options. Thus, we still have the typical organized excursions to the main tourist attractions of the island such as the Caves of Drach, Sa Calobra or Soller. But there are no boat trips, since during this month all the companies of boats and catamarans do not operate. But don't panic, there are still some interesting options:
One of our proposals is to visit Palma where there are many activities and plans. In addition, from November 24 you can see the Christmas lights on, and you can take a walk through its streets. Don't forget to stop by Plaza Mayor, Las Ramblas, Porta Pintada and Plaza de España with its Christmas market. Little by little, the different nativity scenes will open, the first being the one in Plaça de Cort. We advise you to take a look at our guide to Christmas in Mallorca
Some recommended excursions these days in Palma:
Another way to visit Palma is with the tourist bus, which takes about 90 minutes around Palma, and with more than 15 stops, you can get off and on as many times as you want.
The December tells us that the Christmas holidays are just around the corner. At this time we already have many plans for Christmas time. In Mallorca, the arrival of Christmas is a magical and special moment that floods the streets with an unparalleled festive atmosphere. The island is dressed in lights and color, creating a perfect setting to enjoy the Christmas preparations.
One of the most charming plans in Mallorca during this time is to explore the Christmas markets that spread throughout the island. From the emblematic Palma market, with its stalls full of Christmas decorations and gastronomic delights, to the cozy local village markets, where you will find unique gifts and local crafts.
In addition, a walk through the illuminated streets is an essential experience. The Christmas lights and decorations transform the cities and towns of Mallorca into a true fairy tale. Breathing in the fresh, festive air while marveling at the twinkling lights is a perfect way to get into the island's Christmas spirit.
In the link below, we have prepared some December long weekend proposals focused on Christmas. Some of our suggestions are a walk through the Christmas markets, going to see the Christmas lights being lit, a Christmas movie at the cinema...
During this December days the main caves of Mallorca will remain open, and it is an excellent opportunity to visit them. Our three recommendations for this bridge are the Hams Caves, the Campanet Caves and the Genova Caves.
The Genoa caves are located on the outskirts of Palma de Mallorca, and can be reached by public bus. The visit is self-guided, and lasts about 40 minutes. Next to the entrance there is a restaurant specializing in Mallorcan food. The Hams Caves are located in Porto Cristo, and during the December long weekend they are open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The visit is a tour of its best rooms with a duration of about 45 minutes.
Finally, the Campanet caves are one of our favorites. They are the quietest and retain all their charm. In addition, you can combine the visit with a hiking route to Ses Fonts Ufanes, which are next door.
